The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially introduced a structured post-result re-evaluation mechanism for Class 12 Board Examination 2026, reinforcing its commitment to fairness, transparency, and student-centric reforms.

As per the official notification released on May 17, 2026, the board has implemented an improved framework under its ongoing Examination Reforms. This move is part of CBSE’s broader objective to strengthen evaluation practices and ensure greater accountability in the assessment process.

The revised system is based on the Objective Marking Based (OMB) approach, which is designed to minimize errors and standardize evaluation procedures across subjects. According to CBSE, the initiative will not only improve consistency but also enhance trust among students and stakeholders.

CBSE has outlined a three-step structured process for students who wish to review their results:

1. Obtaining Photocopy of Evaluated Answer Book- Students can request a scanned copy of their evaluated answer sheets within a specified timeline after result declaration.

2. Verification of Marks- This step allows students to verify totaling errors or unmarked answers.

3.Re-Evaluation of Answers-Students can apply for re-evaluation of specific questions. The revised fee for re-evaluation has been set at ₹100 per question.

Importantly, CBSE has clarified that fees will be refunded in cases where marks are increased after re-evaluation.

The board emphasized that these reforms were introduced after reviewing feedback from students, parents, and educators. Concerns raised on various platforms, including social media, were also taken into consideration to ensure a more transparent and efficient system.

CBSE stated that the initiative aims to reduce anxiety among students and provide them with a fair opportunity to address discrepancies in their results. By allowing access to answer sheets before applying for re-evaluation, students can make informed decisions.

With this revised framework, CBSE continues its efforts to modernize the examination system. The board reiterated that these changes will make the evaluation process more transparent, reliable, and student-friendly, ultimately strengthening confidence in the education system.

The notification has been issued under the authority of the Controller of Examinations, marking another significant step in CBSE’s ongoing reforms in academic assessment.
