New Delhi: Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) has achieved a significant milestone in urban development under the leadership of its Chief Executive Officer, Savin Bansal. The city was honoured with the “Best Project on Smart Water Management – ESCO Model” award at the 10th Smart Cities India Expo 2025 held in the national capital.
The award was presented during the 32nd Convergence India and 10th Smart Cities India Expo at Pragati Maidan, recognizing Dehradun’s innovative and sustainable approach to water management. The accolade highlights the city’s commitment to leveraging advanced technologies and efficient models to address urban challenges.
A key component of this achievement is the implementation of the ESCO (Energy Service Company) model in water management. Under this initiative, DSCL has established 24 water ATMs across the city, ensuring accessible and safe drinking water for residents. Additionally, significant improvements have been made in the water distribution system, enhancing efficiency and reducing wastage. These efforts have collectively benefited approximately 1.6 million people.
Since assuming office in November 2024, CEO Savin Bansal (IAS, 2009 batch) has focused on accelerating smart city projects with a strong emphasis on water conservation, sustainability, and technology-driven solutions. His leadership has played a pivotal role in driving impactful initiatives that align with national urban development goals.
Officials noted that the ESCO model not only ensures operational efficiency but also promotes long-term sustainability by optimizing resource utilization and reducing financial and environmental costs.
This recognition reinforces Dehradun’s position as a forward-looking smart city, committed to building resilient infrastructure and improving the quality of life for its citizens. The award stands as a testament to the city’s dedication to adopting modern, scalable, and sustainable urban solutions.
